Cultivating Value: A Socially Responsible Approach to Managing your Investment Portfolio.

Do you have to invest in Wall Street under the “business as usual” approach?  Does that approach leave you feeling at odds with your personal values?  Have you ever wondered how to support companies that actually fight for environmental responsibility, employee rights, safety, fair governance, and their community?  Find out how you can make a difference while aligning your values with your personal finance.  Join us for an educational discussion on values based financial planning!

Jesse Eiynck is a financial advisor specializing in values based planning and socially responsible investing.  He has over 12 years experience and is a member of the Progressive Asset Management Group that is the socially responsible investing division of FWG.

Green Real Estate.

Date: March 22nd

Time: 6:30 – 7:30pm

Samantha Strong of Metamorphosis will discuss and answer questions about selling your green home. If you're considering putting your house on the market in the near or distant future, this class will make you aware of what to consider when making energy, indoor air quality or other improvements. She will also address the state of the green real estate market and what you can do to to promote your green home's qualities when it is on the market. Samantha's numerous business and volunteer activities support urban revitalization, sustainability and build community. Your Green Remodel: Basements and Attics.

Samantha Strong joins us again to discuss how you can add to your living space without adding to your footprint. She will explain the pros and cons of finishing each space and how to go about planning and executing the project. More detailed description coming soon.  This class is presented free of charge.

American Clay Half Day Application Class

Date: Saturday, April 21, 2012

TIme: 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

Location: Natural Built Home

Cost: $75

Join us in this fun-filled morning to learn how to apply this beautiful and eco-friendly wall finish! This workshop is from 9 am-2 pm and is designed for DIYers, installers and professionals. This half-day class will cover the basics of applying the clay, preparing participants to work with American Clay on their own. The cost of this workshop is $75. and you can sign up online (here) or call the store to register at 612.605.7999. Participants should bring their own hawk and trowel. Light snacks will be provided but feel free to bring a lunch to eat during the break.

Organic Lawn Care.

Date:TBD

Come and learn how to have a beautiful lawn without toxic chemicals. Organic Bob's course will cover what to do, when to do it and where to get the supplies you need. Got weeds? There ARE effective organic ways to deal with weeds! Grass thin, lawn bumpy or just plain ugly? We will discuss lawn renovation and replacement methods and how to maintain your lawn to keep it beautiful. Bob also has experience using pavers in landscaping. If you are considering creating a patio or walkway with pavers like those sold at Natural Built Home, Bob can answer your questions about those as well.  This class is presented free of charge.

Presenter Bio: Bob Dahm was born on a farm in Iowa and watched his dad and grandfather and many of their farmer friends die of cancer. The prostate cancer rate in his home county is many times the national average. This made Bob passionate about finding other ways to grow food, crops and lawns. In 1986 Bob was a grounds manager for a children's 'psychiatric hospital and the playground was in terrible shape because he refused to use chemicals. Bob began using organic products and practices and after 3 years the playground grass looked better than the rest of the grounds. Bob has been doing organic lawn care ever since.

Julia Earl of Preventing Harm Minnesota will lead this workshop to help you understand common sources of household pollutants and steps you can take to reduce your children’s exposure.
